My artwork uses life and death as a way to relate with others. Within my prints I show how I've connected with these themes in my life. I use words and facial expressions to associate my suicidal ideation with imagery. My work is a way to work through and develop these feelings and allow them to feel real. My prints allow me to analyze how depression and anxiety have affected my body. I show this through depictions of myself as a kid through portraits, and as an adult with full body anatomy monotypes. These effects inherently show life. As we age the body deteriorates, life is shown through our physical forms. Our bodies along with the objects we keep are representations of life that we will leave behind when we die. I work to analyze these representations of life through etchings and screen printed drawings.
I use my artwork as a physical record of my connection with others. Many people will experience life and death in a multitude of ways from adolescence to adulthood, I want others to connect through that vulnerability with my work as a guide.
